Untitled, 2023
40 x 50 cm
oil on canvas
In my network of images, ribbons, and braids melodise alongside patterns and textures in a private and intimate space that is dimly lit and rendered in browns and soft creams. This conservative colour palette depicts fabrics, hair and surfaces that are rich in texture and perceived value. As a collective, I have used the motif of hair and the construction and deconstruction of fabric, to explore themes of femininity, uniformity, perception and desire.
