Realism Painting Course

Painting Realism is a new oil painting course with Cally Lotz. Learn the fundamentals and confidence to create a realist, yet expressive painting that goes beyond mere likeness. Capture the essence and spirit of the subject - details are not important – it’s the well observed colour relationships that make paintings feel believable and real.

Painting with Cally will be a shared experience of skills, support and energy. A small group of like minded people will be guided to explore various aspects of realist painting whilst enjoying stimulating conversation and above all having fun.

We will start with a still life image and work from it using the wipe out method. This involves starting with mass shapes rather than outlines and detail. Over three sessions we will build up texture, and concentrate on getting the values, edges and colours correct.

There will be a high level of tuition with a demonstration at each stage of the process, and individual assistance available at all times.

Cally Lotz is a professional artist who has run 11 art tours to the Cote d’Azur, Palermo Italy, and Shropshire U.K. Cally holds an MFA, has exhibited internationally and has works in public and private collections. Her work can be viewed at http://callylotzartist.com

“I have been to three of Cally’s painting courses and have found her lessons in oil painting very helpful in the way she explains how to compose a painting and how to apply the paint. They have also been great fun in a relaxed atmosphere.”

“Cally’s decades of artistic experience shone through as she guided and encouraged me throughout my painting journey. I was delighted with my progress and the end results.”
