A unique drawing + painting course which nurtures your creative expression and inner exploration, grounded in skill development.

Dawn will guide you to develop your authentic vision as you develop techniques, expand skills, learn about artists and art movements, build confidence and have fun in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Connect with your creative flow and move through artistic blocks with guided exercises. A number of subject matter – still life, landscape, and portrait are explored through the mediums of charcoal, pastel and paint.

This 6-week program welcomes beginners, ready to begin their artistic adventure and those experienced who wish to consolidate their skills. Students will begin working in black and white using charcoal and ink, learning about tonal values, mark-making, positive and negative spaces with still life and portrait. Moving into colour with pastel and learning about artists and art movements who focused on the effects of colour and light. Then, into paint, formal qualities of colour, creating a colour wheel and onto a painting of your own choice.
